A Sunny Patchwork of the Crosses Block

A very orange Patchwork of the Crosses block was made last night. Why am I making more of these? Because last weekend, when I got out the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks I had done and had a good look … Continue reading

A Caribbean Sunflower

IMG_8243wtmk

For some reason, this one makes me think of the Caribbean. A comment left last week on one of the sunflower posts about the quilt being of different seasons of sunflowers has me thinking about possibly arranging the blocks by season when they’re all done. If I do that, this one would definitely be a summer one. It’s one of my favourite batiks. I was so glad I had enough of it left to make a sunflower.

With each one of these that I make, I’m finding it’s faster and faster to stitch. It used to be around a 4 or 5-hour stitch. Now I’ve got it down to about 3 hours from start to finish, including grading the seams and pressing.

Revisiting the Patchwork of the Crosses Blocks

For months and months I have been wondering what I would use for the 2″ squares that will be used to connect my Patchwork of the Crosses blocks, some of which were last seen in this photo. And while I … Continue reading

Another Tiny Seven Sisters Block

Or is it another pieced hexagon? It’s both. I couldn’t resist and have decided to make another miniature quilt, this time with tiny Seven Sisters blocks. They’re fun to stitch, although I don’t think I’d want to make these with … Continue reading

It’s a Small World and I’m Mad

Mad about miniatures, that is. Yesterday afternoon I decided to dive back into this wonderfully wacky world of tiny blocks and printed some of the kites from the Periwinkle Octagon collection and some QSTs on white fabrics, used some diamonds … Continue reading

A Tiny Finish

I couldn’t resist turning the little Seven Sisters block into a very tiny mug rug. Three quick lines of machine quilting and it was done. This is the same Seven Sisters block that is equal in size to a 2.5″ … Continue reading

Star Points and More Star Points

The blue and white quilt in my blog header was made with star points and two sizes of hexagons. They were from the first Inklingo collection on CD, which was sold out long ago. But just a few days ago, new … Continue reading

A May Finish

Candy Stars is finished. Hand pieced and machine quilted. The last stitch in the binding was taken late Sunday and the photo shoot happened out on the roof garden yesterday afternoon. Having such good weather and being able to take … Continue reading

Tiny Sisters

Now that Candy Stars is almost finished – all that’s left is the label now – I had to find another miniature to play with. So I decided on this tiny Seven Sisters block made with .50″ diamonds. It’s the … Continue reading
