I know you’ve seen Candy Stars quite a few times. Now, if you go to today’s post on Wanda’s blog, Exuberant Color, you can see it on the doll bed for which it was made. I was so glad when I … Continue reading
Candy Stars is finished. Hand pieced and machine quilted. The last stitch in the binding was taken late Sunday and the photo shoot happened out on the roof garden yesterday afternoon. Having such good weather and being able to take … Continue reading
Now that Candy Stars is almost finished – all that’s left is the label now – I had to find another miniature to play with. So I decided on this tiny Seven Sisters block made with .50″ diamonds. It’s the … Continue reading
A mini sewing marathon. That’s what was going on here this weekend. And here is the result of the mini sewing marathon. Candy Stars is all but finished – the piecing of it, that is. All that’s left is to … Continue reading
I am staying focused on Candy Stars. In this photo, the fourth row of stars is added. Right now it measures approximately 13″ x 26″. Since the picture was taken early evening yesterday, I’ve added the next row of red … Continue reading
The final 7 Candy Stars are now finished. Along with this pile of Candy Stars, they will be added to the first three rows using the red connecting diamonds and octagons. I’ll have a good idea after tonight just how … Continue reading
Lots more Candy Stars were finished off on the weekend. There are still seven left that need their white squares added. Then I can put all the different coloured threads away and just use the red to connect the Candy Stars to the red octagons and diamonds.
It’s fun to see the stack of the little Candy Stars growing. But it will be more fun to see the Candy Stars quilt finished. I’m still hoping it will be sometime this week.
You might remember the test block I was working on of Tumbling Stars. All along I had planned to make the Tumbling Stars using a specific set of fabrics. On the weekend I decided to try out two sizes of the stars for Tumbling Stars. With my love of miniatures, I thought I might like to make the quilt using the .74″ diamond. Yes, you read that right – a .74″ diamond. While I would love to use that size for a small quilt, for a large quilt such as the Tumbling Stars will be, the back of the top would be all seam allowance. So I decided on the 1″ diamonds, printed enough on fabrics for the first 32 stars and made 2 of them. I will make a few more of the smaller stars and turn them into a mug rug, I think.
Seams graded and stars pressed.
Baxter’s working with stars again, this time as a director.
One of his favourite places – guarding his toy stash.
All of the little stars are now made and last night I started surrounding them with the white squares. It takes less than an hour to get two stars surrounded. Seams graded and pressed. There are now 17 of the … Continue reading
This is what I’ve been doing lately – making lots and lots of little Candy Stars. I decided to get the stars made as, once they’re finished, it’s all lots and lots of continuous stitching adding the little white squares … Continue reading
These little stacks of pieces are all I need to make the final 18 stars needed for the Candy Stars doll bed quilt. Thirty of the little stars are already done and most of those have been attached already. I’m … Continue reading
