I really, really needed a break from the grey and white Feathered Stars! The second one is complete and I’ll show an unexpected design element that has happened with them this week.

So I finished yet another Yin Yang block and now have an even dozen more completed.

And I absolutely cannot pick favourites out of these.

Because I like every single one.

They all have something about them I love.

Be it my favourite shabby chic fabrics.

Or some pink.

Or a batik.

Or a favourite green.

Or a pretty cream print.

Or a pink and greens together with a cream.

Or a fabulous red.

Or just because it’s all that wonderful curved piecing!

I think my favourite part of making these blocks is pressing them. I know, i know – that sounds odd. But it’s so wonderful to see how perfectly they press and lie flat. Thanks, of course, to the perfect stitching lines and matching points in the Inklingo Yin Yang Collection. I tried to make one of these blocks before the Inklingo collection came out and it wasn’t pretty. It was really a volcano in the centre that I couldn’t press out, no matter how hard I tried. So I was ever so grateful when an Inklingo collection for the Yin Yang blocks did come out – it meant I could stitch these blocks as much as I wanted. And I expect I’ll make quite a few more of these shabby chic ones as they could become quite a wonderful bed runner.

And now I shall go back to the grey and white Feathered Stars and get the third one started. But I know I’ll need another break for some colour before I start the fourth.

They’re not quite curled up together, but this is about as close as these two get. And they are doing this more and more often.
