Last night I worked out what I’ll need to print on fabrics to make a block and then started looking for the fabrics I might want to use. This will likely be a 4 or 8 block small quilt as … Continue reading

It was an absolutely gorgeous day on Saturday. A perfect summer day – warm, but not really hot and not humid. So we went for a little drive. I love how green Toronto is in the summer – this was … Continue reading
Over the past while, I’ve been sorting through my batiks stash and found a great use for small pieces. With a piece that’s 5.25″ x 5.75″, I can print enough of the .50″ hexagons to make two flowers. When I … Continue reading
While I’m still not quite ready to print the shapes for my first Rose Star block, choosing some possible fabric combos was definitely on. This is my first and favourite choice. Of course it is — pinks and greens. It … Continue reading
Over the past week or so, I’ve been picking out the shapes for a few more of the Monet blocks and have started putting them together. This may be one block. This may be another. Why may? Because I’m thinking … Continue reading
On Thursday, we went out to run a few errands and do some shopping including a trip to the quilt shop where I found these luscious batik FQs. I’m not sure what I have in mind for these, but there’s an idea slowly coming together that will involve these and some others in my stash. They may end up in another series of the New York Beauty blocks.
This black fabric is destined for the Pickled Ladies border. It’s really darker than it appears in this photo.
What I was really looking for was this – a white with a faint blue print. This is the “right” side of the fabric, which has a darker print than I wanted.
But when I looked at the “wrong” side, it was exactly what I was looking for.
While there, I saw this and was able to try it out on a scrap at the shop. It’s fabulous – the chalk just brushes right off and the lines are very fine.
Today’s Baxtertoon is entitled “Storm Watch.” We had a thunderstorm yesterday and, just like Lester and Smudge, Baxter doesn’t appear to be the least bit perturbed by the claps of thunder.
Baxter often sleeps like this, with one paw over his head. It always makes me laugh.
I was on a bit of a tear putting things away but, in the process, started pulling more fabrics for New York Beauty blocks and put them in this box. It seems I’ll be making a series of these bit … Continue reading
One of the things that got done on the weekend was finishing the little quilt I’m calling Meandering Minds. It’s 8″ x 10″ and is destined for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative. Hand pieced, machine quilted. I used the 2″ … Continue reading
I think this will be block 18. And this block 19. Pressed nice and flat. But having had another look at them all, I’m now thinking that some of these are going in the group for the third New York … Continue reading
Ten more little 2″ drunkard’s trail blocks were made last night for the mini quilt. There are only 3 left to make. With any luck I’ll have those finished tomorrow night and may even get the little top stitched together. … Continue reading
