Getting Close to a Finish

Remember this box full of the pieces to finish …

… this top?

The box is now empty.  All the hand piecing was finished last night around midnight. Now all that’s left is the machine piecing to add the first plain border and then the outer pieced border.

More of the red and white fabrics are washed and ready to cut for those borders. It’s supposed to be quite hot this weekend, so I’m not sure about sitting at the machine with the weight of the top draped all over me as I stitch those borders on. But perhaps I’ll turn up the air conditioning and just get it done. The next time the top is seen it will be a completed one.

“I Brots you flowers but the thingy broke … sorry”

Baxter looks all too grown up in this shot!

  1. Dear Cathi, What an inspiration you are to me. I have been following your blog for a few months, I am a friend of Barb from Texas, and I so enjoy your work. This quilt is wonderful. I can’t wait to see it with the borders added on. I am new to Inklingo. I made a little doll quilt to learn about using Inklingo and I am hooked. Thank you for sharing your obession with quilting and your darling Baxter and clever Mr. Q.O.

  3. Woohoo! 🙂
Can’t wait to see this all done. Btw, I totally love it and have ideas to make one. Sometime. Do you have a rough idea of how much of each colour went into the top?
Love the red. This is the first time I’ve noticed the subtle pattern. That’s my kind of fabric

  4. I am so proud of your accomplishment with this beautiful quilt. i can’t wait to see it finished, as I know you are feeling the same excitement and anticipation. So happy you were able to sit in the shade on the rooftop garden and do some reading. A breeze makes all the difference. Baxter has some adventures…

  5. Oh Cathie, this quilt is just so beautiful! You must be so pleased with all your effort, it will be an heirloom once complete. Also loving all those wonderful New York beauty blocks being produced, you certainly are having fun with those & I love the way you’re just marrying the batiks to come up with the perfect combination for each one.
