After I finished the marigold block, I decided to try to prep at least two blocks so I could just pick them up and start sewing.
As of right now, I have the pieces printed and ready to sew for the wisteria block.
And the chrysanthemum block.
Now I’m finding that I have a problem! I have so many fabric combinations I’m playing with right now for more flowers that I think I could very easily make another nine or ten on top of these two!
This quilt is either going to end up much larger than I envisioned if I set them on point, which I’m leaning towards as I think I’ve found the perfect setting fabric, or I’m going to have to come up with a sashing that will work. As of now, there are seven blocks completed although that number may be just six if I keep the first pink one I made set aside for the Peony Quilt. If I limit it to 12 blocks, meaning I can only print the shapes for four more on top of these two, it’s going to be very hard to decide what to leave out! If I make as many as I want to make, it’s going to be enormous, no matter how I set them. These are huge blocks – well, to me, they’re huge – finishing at 12″. It’s almost impossible for me to contemplate not making all the ones I want to make because every seam of these blocks is lovely curved piecing and I just love the look of the ribbon flower blocks!
Some decisions are going to be made this weekend because I plan to pick out the fabric combinations for at least three more, including their background fabrics, on top of the hyacinth and chrysanthemum ones and get them all printed and ready to sew. My printer is going to be humming this weekend for sure!
The final decision to be made this weekend after choosing those fabric combinations will be which of the wisteria and chrysanthemum blocks to start putting together as it will definitely be one of those two that I sew next.
“Flower Court”
Jake had the toys yesterday afternoon.
While Baxter had them the evening before. He seems to use that huge toy as a pillow more than he plays with it, while Jake will wrestle with it.

or . . . you set on a point and make one largish quilt, then a smaller matching lap quilt!

Your blocks are so beautiful. I thought of you with my dahlias blooming, the size of a dinner plate! Everywhere I go, I see flowers and think I should take photos. It seems you don’t need anymore inspiration. What a wonderful quilt!

Hi Cathi! Such a dilemma you have. Perhaps you could make one on point with setting triangles and one straight with sashing. That way you would not have to eliminate any blocks and you would have two lovely quilts to share with us!!! Your blocks thus far are beautiful and your workmanship is superb. You and Inklingo are a perfect match!! Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you!!! Enjoy!

I like that idea – and right now I”m thinking I may make three wallhangings that I would make with different settings. That way I could have some fun with different settings and keep making all the flowers I seem to want to make.

Howdy – love reading about your progress through bloglovin. I concur with a few of the nice comments above. You could make two or three quilts setting the blocks differently in each. And before you finish the first quilt you may think of another idea as well. Purhaps a table runner to be used in the same room as the quilt; living room coffee table or to top ar bedroom dresse or bedside table “placemat” for example.

I do like the idea of two or three quilts using different settings. I’m thinking of three now – perhaps one of spring flowers, one of summer flowers and one of fall flowers because I just don’t seem to want to stop making them!

Oh, go for it! Make yourself happy, and then decide what to do with your over-sized flower garden. Mine is going to be determined by the number of background pieces I can print, but I think there are 4 1/2 yards of it (in several pieces. I bought it more than once.)

I am going to make as many as I want – or can come up with ideas for. Perhaps three wallhangings – one of spring flowers, another of summer flowers and a third of fall flowers and all three would have different settings. But I’m a long ways from there yet. I have to just keep making the different flowers I want to make and then I’ll decide!

It is going to be a while as I think I could be making these flowers for a few more months before I decide on how many quilts they’ll turn into and how I’ll set them! It’s fun – because someone will mention a flower I haven’t thought of and I immediately start looking for fabric combinations that would work!

And the judges have wigs!!! I would struggle to decide too, as every one you have made is so truly beautiful. our stray Ginger Boy, lies on the settee just like Baxter, we think he is more than 75% Norwegian Forest Breed, A huge ruff, curls in his ears, and under his toes!!!

The judge and lawyers and their wigs in that ’toon made me laugh the second I saw it. I love red cats and still miss Lester, our lovely big red Maine Coon. Yours sounds beautiful – the Norwegian Forest cats are gorgeous, love their ruffs!
