The third setting option I showed on Friday was the one I chose and fairly quickly had the little top sewn together. In fact, I finished stitching it together on Sunday evening but I wanted to wait to get a shot of it in natural light, which we were able to do yesterday.
So here it is – a little 12″ quilt top made up of 16 of the 3″ baskets.
The back of the little top after all the seams were graded and it was pressed. Now all that’s left is to get it basted and ready to quilt. I’m hoping to have it quilted and ready to bind by the end of the week. I’m going to quilt this one by hand.
Now I’m very tempted to get out the box of 5″ charm squares and start making all sorts of these little 3″ baskets. I am going to try to resist that temptation at least for now. Try being the operative word.
“Promise of Spring?” No wonder there’s a question mark as every day we have wind chill warnings and temperatures that are unbelievably cold.
Jake doesn’t seem to mind as he finds places to catch a few sunbeams. He has the most interesting eyes and this photo really shows them. If you click to enlarge the photo, I think you’ll see why I’m so fascinated by them.
Baxter was also enjoying some sun.
such tiny baskets! I can just see you making more of them. That cat is just so beautiful π

An almost finished project! Looks great! Good luck with getting to the finish line, I know you will!
Great picture of Jake and Baxter, those eyes are a really neat color! You know, he might need a quilt of his own to match his eyes, just a suggestion! π

Baxter is a gorgeous boy, his eyes are lovely! Love his little moustache too. That is one sweet little quilt! There’s still a while to wait for spring, Wiarton Willie hasn’t popped out yet…….we visited Wiarton, it has a quilt shop. Is there an alien Willie?

That’s very cute, Cathi! I see what you mean about the colours now. I’m guessing the 5″ charms are quite safe from basket conversion for a little while, after Linda’s latest post. π I thought she was quiet for a long while—should have guessed she was up to something good!
Jake has pretty eyes–is he a Maine too? Every time I see him his fluff quotient increases, and reminds me a tad of the way Baxter fluffed out, for want of a better phrase. Baxter looks very ‘chill’ in that photo.
