Getting Ready To Stitch Saturday

The Farmer’s Delight block is almost finished and will be finished tonight but I also had to get some more shapes ready for Klosjes Saturday.  I’m hoping to get all these pieces stitched into the tiny spools blocks on Saturday.

Am I ever glad I didn’t get a permanent colour done on Wednesday!  When I looked at it yesterday morning, I realized that I really do like my silvery white hair.  Perhaps if I’d been able to get a red rinse that was close to my original hair colour I might have liked it better, but my hairdresser told me that wasn’t going to work in a temporary rinse.   I spent about 20 minutes in the drugstore last night trying to find a clarifying shampoo so I can encourage the fading/washing out to take place faster.  No luck at that drugstore, but I’ll go to a larger one with more stock on Saturday.   If I have to wash my hair 5 times a day for a week or two to get rid of this rinse, I’ll do it.  I think my hairdresser got a little scissor happy too.  When he styled it, it wasn’t so obvious but when I tried to do anything with it yesterday I realized just how short it was.  At the moment I feel like a human Q-tip, as one of my friends says.  I won’t need to get it cut again for at least 3 or 4 months.  Thank goodness we’re going into the summer when hair grows somewhat faster!

Lester is spending more time on the windowsill.  He’s even having naps stretched out there.  I guess he’s determined to spot the first robin.

We caught Smudge in the midst of yawning.  It’s a bit blurry as his head was moving, but I couldn’t resist posting this one.

  1. You really do amaze me with your hand piecing skills! This spool quilt is going to be just beautiful. I am so glad that you only got a rinse too. It would not be an especially good thing if it were permanent color. So funny that Lester is back on the sill, my Pavi yesterday was at it and saw 5 deer in the back yard. He was fit to be tied.

  2. I think I will join you this week end in some spool making. I too got a vurrrry short hair cut last week end but I am quite pleased with it ( and dyed my hair dark brown, heehee).
I am recuperating from a biopsy done last night, and so get a three day weekend out of the deal. and there will be sewing…

  3. Thank goodness it was only a rinse LOL.

I think Lester is lying there so the vent will blow on his tummy, he really doesn’t look that comfortable LOL.

  4. The difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut is three weeks…I’m glad to hear you like your silver/white hair after all. Me too..

Geez, I get a kick out of your cats!

  5. I’m all for natural hair color too. Mine is turning slowly but I like it. I think dyed hair makes facial wrinkles more obvious too. And the expense of it! Short hair will grow out and maybe you’ll like some of the lengths until it gets back to normal too. I’m a chicken to try it too short by choice but have had to endure it because of the beautician too.

  6. I suspect you’ve got the haircut I want! 🙂

With mine, there’s a very fine line between short enough to stay straight, and long enough to start curling. And sometimes it seems the difference is only one day. LOL

  7. I learned 26 years ago not to engage my stylist in conversation because I always end up with hair shorter than I want.
Your cats are so smart, I am surprised that Smudge does not cover his mouth when he yawns. That is an adorable picture. With all I have going on, wish I could find a window sill to sleep on……or at least one I could fit on! Love the spools project!

  8. Looking forward to seeing all good things you have going on over there today. What a situation with the hair. One that I can certainly relate to. It’ll be nice to not have to return to the hairdresser for a while though – that’s one good thing. I dislike going. It’s another chore in my day!

You crack me up with Lester being determined to catch the first robin. hee! That’s funny but what’s cool is that mid-yawn shot you got of Smudge. Wow!!!

  9. Just when I found the right colour, they went and changed brands, argh. Three strikes and I change hairdressers, I hope my current one doesn’t leave, that happens to me a lot. Your spools are going to be fabulous with those lovely strong colours. I loved seeing your different sizes on your last klosjes post too.
