Harpsichord Blocks

The Harpsichord Quilt blocks have been neglected for months, it seems.  They were last seen here.  The story behind why I’m calling this the Harpsichord Quilt can be seen here.  Tuesday night I decided to remedy that neglect by making two of them, one with partial sashing and one without.  The backs:

I was going to make a flower or two for One Flower Wednesday, but in my organizing I have managed to put the box containing all the hexagons I have cut out and ready to stitch in a very safe spot.  So safe, in fact, that I can’t find it.  I’m sure it will eventually turn up.

While we were at the birthday celebration for my aunt on Sunday, Mr. Q.O. got this shot of the view from the dining room.

It was very hot and humid here on Tuesday but we spent an hour or two out on the roof garden where it was wonderful.  It’s always somewhat cooler and there was a wonderful breeze.  While out there, I got all the planning for the baby quilt done.  A little stash shopping is the next step.

Tuesday afternoon, Smudge was quite content to curl up on the sofa.

While Lester was curled up on the floor.

  1. Love the harpsichord blocks and glad to see that you dug them out. Now to find your flowers. I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who misplaces things. Usually they are in front of us too.

  2. The harpsichord blocks are interesting! I can relate to not finding things – I thought when we moved house and my sewing room was packed and unpacked I would find the packet of flower-head pins I bought several years ago – but no.

  3. I think we need to draw maps for our “safe” places. My house had managed to hide my backup Gingher scissors, good thing I bought two of them LOL.

  4. Those are some lovely blocks also and great fabrics:)

Don’t worry about not finding your box, it will turn up. Blogger is acting up and won’t even let me post my photos any longer.
Hope they get that figured out.

    Have a great day

  5. Glad you drug the harpsichord blocks back out. I love them. I am constantly misplacing things anymore. That is my excuse for not putting things away and I’m sticking to it. LOL Great pictures of the boys. Winona

  6. Ohhhhhh… I love the story behind these! I’ve never seen such beautiful harpsichords. I can hear the sound of one playing in my mind. This will be such a unique quilt~!
I have wondered about the young man who was playing downstairs… 🙂
What a lush, green golf course! The silence that Mr. QO captured in the photo is incredible. So peaceful. I think you are very lucky to have your own photographer, which frees you up for more stitching!
