These blocks have been languishing since I got started on Spring Circles, but are about to get worked on again. I had planned to make 12 of these blocks and have the fabrics for the remaining 6 blocks cut and ready to print. So this weekend, the shapes shall be printed and then I will start working on these again as well as focusing on the Spring Circles. I’m playing with the idea of a pieced sashing for these, but will make that decision when I get the remaining 6 blocks completed.
While we were out on the roof garden taking pictures of quilt blocks, we got this shot of the two condominium towers going up across the street. There are so many condominium high-rise towers in this area that sometimes it feels like we live in an absolute concrete jungle. That’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful for the roof garden and that we face on to it with a tree in front of our living room window. Once the leaves on the tree have come out we barely notice all the concrete that surrounds us.
It was a gloriously sunny day on Thursday, although somewhat cool in the morning. Lester was in his usual spot by the window.
While Smudge was posing for the camera, as usual.

O Cathi these are scrumptious!

Cathi, These blocks are fantastic! They remind me of amish barn designs. So lovely and beautifully pieced. The colors are so pleasing. I think the pieced sashing will frame them nicely and I can’t wait to see when you are finished.
I see your little tree behind Lester!
While I live a 180 degree from your life, there are days I wish I lived in a nice place like you do. Oh the conveniece of popping out to the grocery, bakery, cheese shop…. mmmm
or taking a walk and having a nice cup of coffee prepared by someone else, while I sat and people watched.
Or languishing for hours at a bookstore! Also, everything is much cleaner in a condominum…. as I’m off to mop my wood floors, dust and cook in preparation for my friend Sherri’s visit tomorrow. The cleaning is never ending in the country…
I am so honored that I found myself on your Favorite Blog List! Thank you so much!~ Have a wonderful weekend! HUGS!

Can’t believe the height of those building! I’m not sure I could live in something so high…I just about managed the 3rd floor when I was living in Montreal.

I’m thinking you must be a PRO at knotting. Lots of knots, ha? Interested to know about that part. All those pieces, lots of knots. I’m getting better so I think the answer to this is really yes, lots of practice. Gosh they’re amazing.

Cathi, I just discovered your blog a few minutes ago and… you just added at least 3 quilts to my “I simply HAVE to make this” list !!!!
I’m a farmer and a beek. Which is neither here nor there, except that I’d been looking at all these Grandmother’s Flower Garden blocks and quilts, and it was not until I saw the page you opened in the Japanese book that I simply fell in love. One of the quilts reminds me of honeycomb, and I’ll have to add to my yellow and gold scraps, because that’s going to get made. How do I find this book?
Thanks for sharing!!!
