Quaker Patchwork Sampler, Part 3

A little more was done on the sampler.  I seem to be getting into a bit of a routine of stitching this, picking it up once a week to add a few more stitches.  I’ll certainly not win any speed records getting this done, but am enjoying every minute I do spend on it.  I still look at each motif and see a quilt block.  I was contemplating duplicating some of the motifs using 1/2″ squares for each stitch.  I don’t know if I’ll do that, but the idea rather intrigues me.

Another mild day Wednesday.  And our forecast is looking better and better as far as nice mild temperatures go, although rainy.  This has to be the warmest it has ever been this early in March.

I got my hair cut again on Wednesday and this time had a temporary rinse put in.  I had wanted to tone down the silvery white a bit and when my hairdresser said this rinse will just fade/wash out over the next 6 to 8 weeks, I figured it was worth a try.  The rinse is a sort of light beige blonde that is going to take me a bit to get used to.  Probably by the time I grow accustomed to it, it will be fading completely.  At least this way I get to try it out without worrying about upkeep or touch-ups and, if I decide I really don’t like it, it will be gone in less than two months

Lester had another busy day on the windowsill and was in need of some rest Wednesday evening.

While Smudge was wide awake and alert:

  1. I love that sampler! It really is coming along nicely. Handwork can be so soothing and relaxing. A rinse is a great way to see if you like a hair color. I didn’t do that though. I went straight to the color about 15 years ago. Now I won’t go back, way too much gray now. The need to stay auburn is very important for that youthful look… LOL!

  2. I just love this sampler. I really need to hit a stitchery shop some day, I heard there is one in Fargo (3 hours away). I may have to make a day trip and hit a couple of quilt shops while I’m at it LOL.

  3. I have grey hair with some white…I wouldlove to have all white hair…my husbands family all turned white at a very young age and stayed that way..I just want to fit in.
Truth be told, I am too lazy to maintain colour in my hair…

  4. Hi Cathi…an intriguing idea…quilt blocks from these motifs. I bet it would be beautiful. I can certainly see you giving it a try. So….1/2″ finished???

I want to get some Inklingo printed and tried this weekend. I am torn between the Alabama Beauty and the Farmer’s Wheel. I have a collection of red/beige fabric and can see it in the Farmer’s Wheel easily. I would have to buy the “peel” download so I guess the decision is made. 😀 Can’t spend the money on anything new right now.

Hair…I started using the rinse a while back…do it myself. I am happy with the results…no ammonia or perfumes so it doesn’t flair up the asthma. And…much less cost than the salon.

Give the boys pets and nuzzles…

  5. Beautiful needlework!

I’m 43 and have very dark brown hair…but I now have these crazy curly silver hairs boinging all over the place! Thinking of a rinse myself…just haven’t worked up the courage yet. 🙂

As always…Smudge and Lester are adorable.

  6. I love that sampler, Cathi. Also, since I am a new reader to your blog, I just want to say that your cats are just beautiful — I love their long hair and, of course, they have such cute faces.
