As I work on adding the setting pieces to the baby quilt, I keep thinking about the sky quilt. I think this block will become my “blazing sun” block rather than the sunset one.
These fabrics will be the ones I’ll use for the sunset block. There’s sometimes that glorious shade of mauve/purple to a sunset and I really wanted to incorporate that into the block.

So now that’s three corners of the sky quilt taken care of — sunrise, sunset and blazing sun. Any ideas for the fourth corner?
Smudge really does like to get close to a camera. I think he’d like to learn how to use it to take pictures of himself!
Lester is more aloof. Sometimes. He was very interested today watching the gardeners on the roof garden. They were working on the flower beds and he was glued to the window. When a huge pigeon came along and was strutting about on the grass, Lester’s tail was switching and he was chattering. First real entertainment of the year for him.

I like how you're thinking. Yes! Blazing Sun. And the addt'l fabrics for the Sunset. You've obviously enjoyed some glorious sunsets because I think you're really onto "it" with these. Can I say it? YOU ROCK!Smudge is cracking me up and Lester & Kippy are behavioral twins.

Are you only using the sun as a theme in the quilt? How about an orange harvest full moon block?I love your cat photos and your cats. They always look so adorable.

An eclipsed sun? Not sure how you’d do it, but that was my first thought following your “sun” theme. . .~Erin

The blocks are beautiful. I see some amazing sunsets from our house and some amazing colours. I think you are doing a fabulous job of getting some of the colours. I love the way the sun can be blazing orange/red at night. And the baby quilt looks wonderful as well!!

Maybe a blurry misty Sun during cold Winter days, early in the morning… using some softer toned fabrics?

Challenge: partly sunny day–behind clouds?Another idea: foggy day–when you can sort of see the sun but not really.

I like your new choice! Jasper has been playing outdoors the last few days and runs all over the yard.

I know this wouldn’t necessarily the same size, so maybe difficult to actually balance, but how about some brilliant stars in the fourth corner? Not little twinkly ones, but maybe several larger gloriously shining ones?

I can also see an eclisped sun. The center done in black with the red ring of fire embroidered on, the next colour fading to a navy blue, and finally the outer band as a deep twilight blue.
