Another Small Star

Now that I’ve got the idea of doing a small quilt with these blocks, another needed to be made. I’m thinking I’ll add some plain 4.5″ squares and then have a fair-sized teddy bear quilt.

And the first two together:

On the weekend, I got the remaining 259 cream hexagons printed that I need to finish adding the borders to the POTC blocks. Here’s about half of them cut and ready to stitch together.

Tropical Punch Blocks

The four Tropical punch blocks are finished. Now to figure out how I want to set them. Should they become a long table runner — about 50″ more or less?

Or would they become a square wall hanging that would finish at approximately 25″?

My initial thought was to use this gold as the setting fabric, but now I’m thinking about a really bright green batik or even a pink/purple batik, neither of which I have at the moment. Hmm, maybe a trip to the LQS is in order. I like the gold fabric but to keep it really bright and feeling tropical tropical, I’m thinking the green or pink/purple idea might be better. The four blocks were incredibly fast to go together, using the 6.0 LeMoyne Star Inklingo collection.

I’m working on another of the sky quilt corner blocks right now. I have this one to finish, the last one to do and then it will be on to the rainbow.

Lester doesn’t much care as long as he has a cozy kitty bed to curl up in.

Smudge looking rather regal, I think.

Tropical Punch Block 2

A little play time was in order on the weekend and so a second Tropical Punch block was made. Working with these lovely warm colours was almost a necessity with the temperatures being so horribly cold.

Because I had printed a number of the templates on various of these fabrics, I was able to just choose my fabrics for the next block and then stitch. Yet another reason I love Inklingo — once the templates are printed on to fabric, all I have to do is cut out the shapes from whichever fabric I want to work with for the next block and then just stitch.

I like the back of these blocks almost as much as the front.

Smudge is definitely a ham. Here he is doing his lounge lizard imitation. He held the pose while we found the camera, turned it on and took the shot.

And Lester found his spot — and was keeping toasty warm.

I hope this cold snap ends soon. The last 3 or 4 days have been brutally cold. I don’t know if it’s because it’s March and we think it should be getting warmer or if we were spoiled by those few days of milder temperatures, but the last few days have been very hard to take.
