The latest Inklingo mystery quilt is called Case of the Diamond Necklace and is made with the 1.75″ diamond collection – all but one of the shapes in the little top were printed with templates from that one collection. The one other shape was easily prepared using freezer paper templates to trace the shape on the back of the fabric. I used a teal and – of course – a pink batik to go with my focus fabric. My focus fabric was perfect for fussy cutting/printing diamonds for the kaleidoscope stars that are in the quilt. I decided to use a star for the centre of mine, but everyone had the opportunity to design their own centre hexagon for the mystery quilt.

Right now it’s a hexagon that measures 24″ x 28″, but I’m playing with an idea that will involve some more piecing for the corners to turn it into a rectangle. All the clues are available at the All About Inklingo blog – this post in particular has the final clue as well as links to all the previous clues.It was a fun mystery quilt and it was easy to keep up from clue to clue. Mine is totally pieced by hand because that is, as usual, my preference. And there were loads of opportunities for continuous stitching.

That was the only distraction that was going on while I finished up adding the half Pickled Ladies. Last night I printed a lot more of the shapes I need for the pieced border that I have planned for the Pickled Ladies top. That is going to be my focus until I get it finished – I hope! We all know how easily distracted I am.
