One more block to go and the snow crystal blocks for Pink Ice will be all done. I’m rethinking how I’ll put the top together. The blocks will be set on point but, rather than making 9-patch blocks for the alternate blocks, I think I’ll use plain 9″ blocks.
The back:
My wrists/hands are still somewhat sore, so Mr. Q.O. may end up guest blogging a day or two this week. Or perhaps I’ll post photos with very few words.
Saturday was a very overcast day, although we really didn’t get anywhere near the ran they said we’d get. Smudge took advantage of a lazy summer day. This is one of his classic poses.
While Lester got in some windowsill time on Sunday.

So pretty, Cathi. I can just imagine some beautiful hand quilted feather wreaths in the plain setting blocks.

Was hoping your wrists/hands were feeling better, sorry they are still acting up. Thank Mr. O for blogging (if he has to stand in) and photos…they are great! I adore your Pink Crystals blocks…and marvel that the back is so, so perfect…just lovely! Pssst, don’t tell Smudge…but it looks a bit like a “bad hair day”! Cute though!

Beautiful! This is a gorgeous block! Is this a paper pieced block?
I’m new to quilting and this just made me want to get started on my next block! I just picked out material for the Summer Quilt-Along … so I’m on block two!

Sure hope your wrists mend up soon. That can’t be fun.
Another pretty block. I saw this pattern in My Stars III (patterns from the Kansas City Star) book that I have! It’s called ‘The Blazing Star’ and it appeared in the Kansas City Star, February 15, 1930. I thought that was neat as I was looking through my books and noticed it since you have been working on it.

I like the fabric in this block, batik or handpainted, or a look alike? Pictures with only a few words are good for a few days.

Gorgeous – and the plain setting blocks will be a palette for some amazing quilting – which I know you will do by hand – rather than wrestle with the machine.
Smudge looks comfortable – to say the least! And Lester regal as always.
Hope your wrists are better today.

This is going to be one YUMMY quilt!! These blocks are beautiful!! Love the pink in this one too..
If you keep dangling these at me I’m just going to have to make a pink thing… LOL LOVE PINK
It seems to have taken over red as my number one favourite colour.
How do you resist not tickling that tummy when Smudge lays like that.
Hope your head is feeling better… hugs Elly

I love seeing this quilt progress. I just love these blocks. Don’t know why, for the life of me, that I haven’t started one. Now that baseball is done (Little League board member, concessions and scorekeeping volunteer) I will have more time to make cards and quilt.
Hope your wrists heal soon and you can enjoy creating without the pain.
Love Smudges pose and Lester looks like he’s thinking of reaching for something. Take care.

Cathi,
love the pink ice blocks the quilt I am sure will go together very well. Smudge reminds me of Spud and Bess who will adopt that 4 paws in the air and knead the air when I rub the proffered tum ! Love the coons.
Hope you r ahnds/wrists get better soon, I don’t know how you do so much sewing. I am still having to back off mine as the arm reacted when I did just a little too much. Still we can sew can’t we!
