New Patchwork of the Crosses Block

When looking at the blocks still requiring the surrounding cream hexagons, there was one that really stood out and I knew it wasn’t going to fit in with the others in the quilt. So I picked out some fabrics for another block and have now finished this one:

The back:

For the next 16 days I’m taking care of Winnie, an adorable looking little cat, for friends who have gone away to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. She is, however, one cranky cat!! She hisses when you put her food down for her, hisses if you try to pat her, just hisses a lot! I’ve known Winnie ever since our friends got her, about 14 years ago, and she has always been like this. She was a barn cat so I guess she’s basically feral. They live three floors above us, which makes it easy to run up and take care of her but I feel rather badly that she doesn’t want any attention at all. She just wants her food and water and that’s about it. Maybe I can get her used to a little attention during this time. That’s what I’m hoping.

One thing’s for sure, she makes me very grateful for the lovely dispositions our two boys have!

  1. How interesting about Winnie. My mom feeds kitties in her neighborhood and every evening for years comes a little female persian looking kitty that mom calls hissy. She hisses all the time but does allow mom to pet her.

  2. We had a cat for 13 years like WInnie. Very hard to love. even when Basil allowed you to pet him, he would suddenly lash out.Out two new kitties are love muffins. What a delight!

  3. dd has a cat Olive, and she cat-sat (is that a word?) for a friends cat. It was the week from hell, as the cat hissed the whole time like your friends, if you went near it, it went for you and scratched you. It spent most of the week under the bed and Olive spent most of the week in the closet out of its way!!!!Dd said never again!!Oh and your enive hasn't arrived!!Gill

  4. Winnie sounds like my niece's cat, Flower. Gorgeous girl, but MISERABLE!! Her favorite position is the arched back hissing position 😀 We nicknamed her Lucifleur because of her attitude, LOL!! My cat spends his days looking for attention and luvving – it always surprises me when other cats don't seem to want attention!

  5. Hi Cathi, your cat cat sitting is something else, 14 years WOW they are devoted to this cat or what? I have a neighbour also that I look after her cat once in a while, Calie, and she can be affectionate but once she is done with your petting (only about 2 seconds worth) she gives you no warning and swats at you…yikes she is fast. It's nice that we have the cutest cuddly cats.Have a good weekendValeriehttp://www.pastimesonline.ca/vals-quilting/

  6. Ahhh we had a "Winnie" here when DH found this half dead kitten on the road. She still is terribly shy even with family but DH has her eating out of his hand so if you persevere she might just come around!Good luck.
