Remember this?

I started quilting it on the weekend, using a silk batt that is absolutely wonderful to work with. It’s incredibly easy to needle, and I’m getting lovely tiny stitches. That said, I’m taking out what I’ve done so far as I decided I want to quilt it differently than I originally had planned. I’m totally sold on using the silk batt now.
After a week of extreme cold, what did we get? Snow, snow and more snow. It began snowing around 3:00 p.m. Saturday and continued snowing until Sunday afternoon. This picture was taken during the daytime and it really shows what gets to me about winter — the total lack of colour.
Smudge keeps us entertained, no matter what the weather. He curled up with the teddy bear, his head on the teddy bear’s legs.

What type of silk batt did you use?Was it difficult to unfold or lay out to sandwich?I have a silk batt but I am afraid to use it as I’m not sure how to unroll it so that it doesn’t pull apart.Love the colors of the flowers, especially the color one…just the thing for a snowy colorless day.

I have never used the silk batting, is it a lot more expensive than the regular stuff?Gill

I love Smudge and his teddy bear!I think you’ll have to give us all a silk batt tutorial. I want to try it too.

You should make a calendar with the expressions on the kitties faces. They have such good expression. I’ve heard wonderful things about the silk batts. Especially for hand quilting.

Pretty!Enough with the snow already! DH had to shovel a path out to the bird feeder – and the snow was up to his knees. That’s pretty much the level in our entire back yard. The other small feeder near our kitchen window – shaped like a bird house – had a foot of snow on its roof!

Oops – didn’t mean to make that sound like a complaint against your snow comments. Sorry. I just meant that I really would rather we don’t get much more this winter, please and thank you.

Ohhh Cathi this is a beautiful piece. Actually, there isn’t one project you’re working now that I don’t look forward to seeing. They’re all so lovely. Smudge looks so cute with his bear and OMG look at all that snow. Lester must be allowing his ruff to keep him warm!
