These are turning out so nicely I can’t believe it!! I love the look of the black and white. Why Red Delicious? Because on every row — somewhere — there will be a red apple core. It may be in the place of a black piece or a white piece. There will be no rhyme or reason to it; totally haphazard.

Look how flat the seams lie after pressing!
With the stitching lines and matching points so accurately positioned, it’s dead easy to stitch. And a whole lot of fun!!! I had about 20 of them stitched together in no time. Of course, my idea that this would be a small quilt went out the window. This will be a good-sized lap quilt, I’m sure. I’m equally sure that I will be making a few apple core quilts. There’s something very soothing about stitching a perfect curve like this — and these ones are so simple to do!!
Here you can see the first of the red apples.
This shot totally cracks me up — I have no idea what they were looking at out there on the roof garden, but something clearly had caught their attention.

I love the shots you take of the backs of your projects. Wow! There’s something very satisfying about a smooth, flat back. This will be a wonderful quilt. 🙂

Okay Cathi, this is really killing me. This Apple Core business is obviously fully rewarding for you adn for the rest of us and I don’t know if this will finally be what gets me? All I know is – this, this, oh shoot, this is just irresistible. That’s a “prime” shot of the boys!

I have been thinking of doing an apple core quilt and yours really has me wanting to do it even more. My club is going to do a class in hand piecing next month using the thousand pyramid block, but you know – I think I see an apple core in my future instead of a pyramid.

I like the look of the apple core pattern but I have only done a small sample of it when I was teaching charm qult classes. You don’t have many pictures of the kitties together so this one is really neat. Whatever they see, it interested them both.

I just love following this project. Great idea to put one red apple core in each row. And I love the name of this project. Can apple cores be machine pieced?

Love the name you've picked for your Apple Core project. (That's next on my list to purchase.) It made me smile as did the picture of Lester & Smudge. Our cats can't sit that close to one another peaceably.~Erin

Looking good. How excellent putting a red apple in, every now and then. Sure wish Inklingo was out when I pieced my apple cores. I see you are pressing as you go. Good idea. I keep putting off pressing mine. All the seams scare me. 🙂

I just purchased this collection over the weekend. Normally this would have been something I would have passed up, but….I’ve had these 2000 3″ charms from a Y2K swap I did some years ago and they have just been sitting in a box. Thought this might be something I’d like to make my Y2K quilt into! Another project on the list for this year. Rae Ann

Wow. God bless. I wouldn’t even TRY something as complicated as the quilt you are working on. It know they would never lay flat for me. Good luck.Linda
