Last night I started on the little butterfly hexagons for the stars. These are 2″ hexagons from the very first Inklingo collection. I’ve used an inexpensive white muslin behind the white on white on which the hexagons are printed and love the fact that that will successfully stop any shadowing through of the threads.
Hopefully, tonight I’ll get at least one or two hexagons joined with the stars.
What did we wake up to? Snow. Lots and lots of snow. It’ still snowing. It started snowing around 10:00 last night and it is still coming down. It’s pretty but I think it’s more than we were expecting. Right now, the snowflakes that are falling are huge! True winter wonderland. The trees now have that dipped in icing sugar look.

does that mean 2″ on a side or 2″ across? I’m thinking it is on a side. Even still those are tiny little butterflies.I took some snow photos to process and post soon. It was a little icy under the snow but just a thin layer.

Nice to have that muslin backing to keep the back threads hidden. I’ve sometimes noticed those in some needlework but this way of hiding them never occurred to me.

Tell me about the muslin backing. I have all the supplies to make a pattern called Winter Wonderland. It calls for muslin on the back. So, you just marked your pattern on the background fabric, then baste the muslin to the background fabric? I’m working on the Polka-Dot Girls, which uses an iron-on pellon. I don’t like that much. I’m afraid in time it will peel away from the fabric. I can already see that happening from the hoop.
