First Hand Quilting Project for 2009

This little piece will be my first hand quilting project for the year. It was made with the pieces from the free downloadable Inklingo collection. I’m using a silk batt so I know this will be an absolute joy to quilt. It’s a little piece but it’s a nice way to ease into some larger quilts that need to be quilted.

I’m planning to use a dark fabric for the binding to finish it off. I’m not really sure what we’ll do with it, but I like it the size that it is. Perhaps it’s destined to become a wall hanging.

Lester in his favourite spot in the winter:

And Smudge — if you look closely I think you can see that his fur is wet. He has the oddest drinking habits. Rather than lap up a bit of water, he puts his whole face into the water bowl and then, when he’s dripping wet, catch the water on his tongue as it rolls down off his fur. He has done this since he was a kitten and it never fails to amuse us. I often wonder if he’d actually go in if we had a small wading pool for him.

  1. Not sure what you’ll do with it, ha? Well I’m thinkin’ it would surely want to be… oh dare I say? Goodness I know if your Etsy shop were up I’d click away until it was shipped to LeeHaven. I know it would.Oh I’m head over heals in love here. Totally distracted now.

  2. That’s a pretty little project! You’d think Smudge would have learned how to drink just by watching Lester! But maybe water just tastes better if it trickles off your fur. What do I know? I’m only a human!

  4. What a sweet looking quilt, Cathi!! So very adorable…. I love it! What is the finished size? Let me know what you think about the silk batt. I have only used wool, and have been curious to try out the silk.

  5. OK Smudge has some issues! LOLYour project reminds me of spring tulips and I sure wish spring was closer to coming than it is here in UT. LOLI would vote for green for the binding as the tulips in the garden are surrounded by new grass right? Can’t wait to see the finish
