New Book = Total Distraction!

Millefiori Quilts 3wtmk

I have been totally distracted the past few days looking through the latest book by Willyne Hammerstein – Millefiori Quilts 3. While I loved lots of the quilts in Millefiori Quilts 1 and 2, the quilts in Millefiori Quilts 3 are all calling to me. I can actually envision making my own version of almost every single one of them.

When it first arrived, I was lost for a few hours going through it. And every single evening since it arrived I’ve been looking through it over and over again, identifying the quilts I want to make.

Capriccioso-by-Willyne-Hammerstein

The best part? There are already two Inklingo collections for Capriccioso, one of the quilts in Millefiori Quilts 3  – a collection for the original size and one for a larger size. I’m intrigued by this design as I have visions of making this utilizing some fussy cutting/printing and some placement of fabrics to get a different effect. It’s definitely on my mind as I work on the last of the Garden Gone Wild flowers and will be what I start on as soon as I get them finished. There are already Inklingo shapes for the two diamonds in Moncarapacho, the cover quilt of Millefiori Quilts 3 – any one of the Ballet collections and Passacaglia collections have those two diamonds. All the Millefiori Quilts books and the Inklingo collections that are available for the various quilts in them can be found on the main Inklingo Millefiori Quilts page.

It has been a very long time since a book has had me this intrigued. I love the quality of the book as well as Quiltmania really does put out a great product that is definitely worth buying. But even though I’m dying to play and have already printed window templates to use when auditioning fabrics for fussy cutting/printing some of the shapes in Capriccioso, I’m going back to the Garden Gone Wild flowers!

  1. Morning Cathi, I love those pictures of the cats… nice.
Books. I’m a book hound! History, quilting, cook books….. if I pick one up I’m in trouble! Chopping veggies this morning before I head out to do chores. Fresh Salsa from the garden!!

    • Thank you – I was really quite happy with those pictures of the cats. I’m a bit of a book hound as well, but have gotten quite picky about the quilt books I buy. Quiltmania is one publisher that I find puts out a really good product – their books are definitely worth the money!

  2. I admire you restraint for staying with the garden gone wild quilt! I’m loving watching it progress. I can’t wait to see the top!

Quiltmania does produce an excellent product! I’m glad you’ve found something to look forward to and dream of all the possibilities. It’s fun! I’m thankful for your blog and being able to watch all That you create.

As well as the toons!! How creative and funny they are!

I could sit and hold your kitties all day! They are so cuddly and sweet.

    • You’ve followed my blog long enough to know that this kind of restraint is very unlike me! LOL But I am so determined to finish the flowers for my garden that I can’t let myself get distracted too, too much. I can’t wait to start that Capriccioso quilt!

  3. I thought for sure that you would have a block or two done from the new book, but getting your garden done is even better! Can’t wait to see the whole thing bloom!
    Great pics of the boys!

    • You have no idea how hard it has been for me to resist making at least one block, just to get a feel for piecing it! Finishing the garden just had to take priority!!

  4. Cheesy smiles galore, no wonder, what a stunning book.” Passacaglia” is this one of the designs that we will see coming from your home in due time? I so enjoy a book that never dates, and can give pleasure with every new look.

    • In my opinion, Millefiori Quilts 3 is the best of the three books. I doubt I’ll ever do the Passacaglia quilt. While I think it’s gorgeous and making one is a huge accomplishment, it’s just not one that I feel compelled to make.

  5. I was sure you would love the designs in Millefiori 3. It is the best of the three for me too. I am excited about your Garden Gone Wild, so I hope your self-retraint keeps you on track with it! 🙂 Each flower is a masterpiece.

    • You were absolutely right – there’s only one word for this book and it’s fantastic! It’s hard to resist going through the book over and over again and daydreaming about the designs and what I’d do with them, but I am staying focused. I’m working on flower 20 right now!

    • This is by far the best of the Millefiori Quilt books so far, I think. I want to make almost every single quilt in it!! It’s pointless to resist – just the enjoyment of looking through and seeing all the fabulous designs makes it worth every single penny!
