This one is my very favourite ribbon flower so far. It’s a peony which is definitely my very favourite flower, and a variety of peony that’s new to me – a sorbet peony. It’s pink, which is, of course, my very favourite colour. And it was made with nothing but loads and loads of curved piecing, my very favourite thing.

The next flower that will be blooming will be the shaggy orange coneflower. After that will be the petunia. Then it will be time to choose some more flowers to add to my garden and get the shapes printed for those flowers. Most, if not all, of the remaining flowers need to be shades of pink as I’ve got a fair number of purple and orange flowers but nowhere near as many pink/deep pink/red flowers as I would have thought would be growing in my garden!
“Pink Sorbet”
I know this photo isn’t as sharp as it could be, but I couldn’t resist posting it. I love it when cats have the tip of their tongue sticking out just a tiny bit, as Jake does here.
Baxter has spent a lot of time watching out the window the past few days.

I am SO glad to hear from another person who loves pink! Once the shaggy orange coneflower is done, I’ll be jumping to another pink one I have the pieces ready for – I think it’s another tea rose, but I’m really not sure quite yet. I suppose it will be determined when I get it put together. 😉

May I suggest carnations/pinks for a block, since they come in all shades of pink/rose/magenta/white? Carnations can be a bit shaggy, too …

I love peonies too and did not know of a sorbet peony. This is truly lovely Cathi. You will have lots of pink and red flowers to choose from. It may be hard to make choices!

When I searched for images of the sorbet peony, I was entranced! Then I started looking at other varieties of peonies – and oh, my! It made me wish I had a garden of my own – I would have loads of different peonies and tea roses and wisteria and, and, and – the list would go on forever! So I think it would be a very interesting garden!

Your “flower” quilt is going to be like my rose star quilt…. big enough to slip cover the house! Something about Baxter’s pix this AM made me think of an old love that adored peppermint ice cream. Sorbet wouldn’t have had any “whiskers” on the other side of the dish.

I’m going to have to limit it to 20 blocks. I don’t like square quilts so if I don’t stay with the plan of 20 blocks, then it would have to move to 30 blocks and then that becomes absolutely enormous as I do plan to set these on point!!

Oh, how I would love to see that peony. I’ve never seen it here. I wonder if I could talk the gardeners here into planting some peony bushes. Hmm …

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I really would love to see that peony. I think I’ll ask the neighbourhood florist if they can get that specific one next spring/early summer.
