There has been a slight diversion from the Springtime in Paris top. I was thinking about the blue and white baseball quilt I want to do and then wondered what would happen if some fussy cutting/printing was involved. And once I got that idea, I just had to try it out.
So I printed the shapes on paper and made window templates for both the 2″ and 3″ Drunkard’s Path layouts. And tried them out on first one fabric.
Then on a second.
As I have some extra of the butterfly fabric I used for the butterfly kaleidoscope stars, I decided to try the window templates on it. And the 2″ size produced some interesting results.
So some quick printing, then a little fun piecing and I had my first kaleidoscope Drunkard’s Path done. With more to follow. This won’t be a big piece, but rather a small table topper as it really is an experiment I was determined to try. And I’m glad I did. Now I’m thinking I may have to look for the perfect blue that has a slight design for the baseball quilt so I can do loads of fussy printing/cutting.
The back, after pressing and grading the seams. And now it’s back to Springtime in Paris, which is just past the halfway point to being finished. Although there may be one more slight diversion. Well, okay — maybe two slight diversions. I had three ideas that resulted in printing shapes on fabric yesterday. What is it about being halfway finished a project that seems to convince me I need to have new ideas ready to work on? It’s not as though I don’t have enough projects in progress to keep me occupied for next to forever already! But the other two ideas were impossible to resist, so there may be pictures of at least one of them shortly.

Baxter turned 3 last week. He’s really growing into a magnificent Maine Coon kitty. It’s hard to believe he’s already 3 as some days it feels like it was just a few weeks ago that he was a small kitten.

I think I look like the pink rabbit after Easter. I might have to put a copy of him on my refrigerator to remember moderation in all things (except fabric). I also tend to think half done time to start something new. I am trying to control this trait also, but it is difficult. Especially when I see so many wonderful projects that you do. Have a peaceful day.

Baxter for sure is a stately magnificent Maine Coon Kitty. We had one years ago. He was personality-plus!
April was a month of travel and now the blogs as well as the projects are backlogged.

Baxter and Jake are perfect models, and I’m sure love to lie on whatever quilt or fabric is there, “just for me” they might say. And why not have a new project in mind or started, nowhere does it say all work in progress has to be totally finished before you start a new one. Looks lovely. Cheers, Jean.
